Emily Irene VanCamp who initially wanted to become professional dancer, became interested in acting when she visited her sister Katie in the making of the film Ladies Room. While taking classes in acting, she also landed part-time roles in Canadian television shows. She was a part of as a guest on several shows in the series Are You Scared of the Dark? Radio Active and Dice. VanCamp had a career breakthrough after being cast as main character Sam Dolan on the WB horror-themed mystery series Glory Days. Even even though the show received excellent reviews, it was cancelled after only nine episode because of its low ratings. In spite of her May 12th, 1986 birth date her actress was offered an appearance on Everwood with the character Amy Abbott. The role she played in the film was rewarded with four Teen Choice Awards nominations and a Young Artist Award.
